Even with slightly soundproof walls, Ian's voice carries outside of his private hospital room. Which is pretty energetic for a man who is in a cast and a neck brace. The woman on the other side of the mobile line begs the councilman to calm down.

dahlia half-considered passing the room, but she had heard of his sorry state: plastered up like a paper maché sculpture at a science fair. and so, half out of concern and half out of comedic blackmail, she shifts in. like a feline, she squeezes through the smallest gap the door frame can afford her.

her brow knots together like colliding canoes, wincing at the echo of his voice.

Of course Dahlia has come to gloat. Ian does not think that the woman could fathom the weight of the sword when she is struggling with the weight of the shield.

"Disappointed that I survived, Commissioner?" Ian does not believe in discretion. It is a crutch of weaker leaders. "I bet you didn't expect any Rockets to be at the ruin at all." Her operations would be much easier to carry out if he were buried under a ton of rock. Now that he has survived, they wouldn't be.
